Add some elegance with a Crochet Calla Lily. The Calla Lily or Arum Lily were one of the flowers which grew like wind fire in my Nana’s garden, stem after gracious stem would appear & last for weeks throughout the summer. They can come in a beautiful array of colours but I will always love the classic white.
This is the eleventh pattern in a series of FREE CROCHET FLOWER patterns I have & will be sharing with you as many of us stay at home through the coming days & weeks.
My free Crochet Calla Lily pattern is written below with a simple step by step written photo tutorial or if you prefer a video tutorial, I have also made a Youtube video.
- 25 meters fingering weight white yarn per flower
- 5 meters fingering weight yellow yarn
- 2 meters fingering weight green yarn
- Matching crochet hook to your yarn I have used a 2.2mm
- Yarn needle
- 50cm florist wire
Gauge: N/A. Use the smallest crochet hook you can with your chosen yarn to create tight stitches, this will help your petal keep the form & not flop.
Size: Using fingering weight Anne Circulo yarn, my flower was 12cm tip to base & 8cm wide.
Notes: The petal is made first in the round. Next the spadix (yellow central stem) is made in the spiral. Finally the green cup is made. Once all pieces have been made they are assembled together.

Once all 3 flower pieces are made thread the florist wire through the first row of spadix, twist underneath to secure in place, now insert the wire into the 4th row of the flower directly opposite the point as shown below.
Fold the right side of the flower edge over the spadix, then fold over the lift side (as shown in the photos below), using the long tail from the flower, sew the spadix and flower petals in place to secure.
Insert the flower cup through the stem with the shell section cupping the back of the flower, tighten the magic circle. Using the long tail from the cup, sew the green cup to the flower. Weave in your ends & fasten off. Finally fold the white folds of the flower forward over the green cup. If you wish you can wind the green coloured yarn around your wire to match.
