For week six I am going to show you how to make an easy crochet rose. These cute crochet flowers are a quick make & if you subscribe to Moara Crochet you can get the pattern for small, medium & large flower plus free access to my crochet leaf pattern! To make your crochet rose you can use any yarn in your yarn stash with the matching crochet hook. Roses come in a huge range of colours so whatever yarn you have your rose will look beautiful.
This is the sixth pattern in a series of FREE CROCHET FLOWER patterns I have & will be sharing with you as many of us stay at home through the coming days & weeks.
My free Crochet Rose pattern is written below with a simple step by step written photo tutorial or if you prefer a video tutorial, I have also made a Youtube video.
Materials
- 7 meters cotton yarn (or any yarn from your stash)
- Matching crochet hook to your yarn
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge: N/A. Use the smallest crochet hook you can use with your choosen yarn to create tight stitches, this will help your petals keep the form & not flop.
Size: I have double my lace yarn & used a 2.5mm crochet hook to create a 5cm diameter crochet rose flower.
Notes: The easy crochet rose is created from a crochet ribbon which is turn after each round. Once the ribbon is made it is turn & stitched to create the floral round.
Subscribe to Moara Crochet to get access to all 3 sizes plus the crochet leaf pattern!
How to make a Easy Crochet Rose
Row 1: Chain 24, 2dc in the 4th from the hook, *skip st, 3dc inc.* repeat* 9 times. Turn. Total: 11 3dc clusters.
Row 2: Ch3, dc into the same stitch, dc inc., dc, ch3, sc in ch-sp, *ch 3, dc, dc inc., dc, ch3, sc * repeat* 8 times, ch 3, dc, dc inc., (dc, ch3, sc into the same stitch). Turn. Total 11 petals. Leave a long tail of 25cm, fasten off.
Thread a tapestry needle onto the long tail, weave the thread down the first 3 chain stitches created at the beginning of Row 1. Rotate the ribbon around itself to create a coil, using the long tail place a stitch through foundation chain and the fold, continue turning the petals around the first fold arranging the petals to your desired position.
Add a sewing stitch each time to secure the petals in place and continue until all the petals are attached. Fasten off & weave in your ends.
Make a collection of flowers & make a brooch, headband, garland or add them as floral decoration to your other crochet projects!
