How to crochet an Easter Egg - Moara Crochet

Free Crochet Easter Egg Pattern

With Easter just around the corner, it is time to share with you my Free Crochet Easter Egg Pattern! At the request of my mum (as we needed to update out Yarn Bomb Postbox), a collection of flat Easter Egg motifs were needed. I tried everywhere on-line to find a pattern that I like, but unfortunately I did not find what I wanted, so I had to create my own crochet pattern!

These cute little Crochet Easter egg motifs can be used as decorations in your home. Make yours into a garland or hang a collection from some branches to add a little Crochet Easter charm to your home. Or use yours as a little tag decoration of your Easter gifts – this is my plan!

My free Crochet Easter Egg pattern is written below with a simple step by step written photo tutorial or if you prefer a video tutorial, I have also made a Youtube video.

Materials

  • 10 meters DK yarn (I have used Circulo Charm Yarns)
  • 3 meters contrasting DK yarn
  • Matching crochet hook to your yarn I have used a 3mm | D
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Gauge: 18 stitches and 10 rows to measure 10 x 10 (4x4in) over dc sts.

Size: Using 3mm | D crochet hook and Circulo Charm yarns my Crochet Easter Egg is 8cm length 7cm diameter.

Notes: The Easter egg is made of two motifs. The front can be decorated with surface crochet or embroidery if you wish. Once decorated the two motifs are placed together then crocheted together with a contrasting yarn.

Crochet Stitches

To make my crochet daffodil you will be using a few advanced crochet stitches including: Treble Crochet (tr), and Double Treble Crochet (Dtr). If you are unsure of any of these stitches there is not need to worry, as I have made easy to follow crochet stitch videos for you below.
