Free Crochet Succulent Pattern - Moara Crochet

Free Crochet Succulent Falling Hearts

As a change from Free Crochet Flowers this month I am turning indoors and sharing with you a new Free Crochet Succulent Pattern Falling Hearts. This is one of my favourite house plants. A beautiful delicate succulent with cascading tiny hearts. I have not had the best success with this plant in my own home. So I thought I would create the next best thing, a crochet forever plant which will not need any care but will add a little pop of green into any corner of your home.

Falling Hearts Crochet Pattern - Moara Crochet

My free Crochet Succulent Pattern Falling Hearts pattern is written below with a simple step by step written photo tutorial or if you prefer a video tutorial, I have also made a Youtube video.

Materials (Per Leaf)

  • 2 meters Dark Green Thread yarn (I have used Circulo Clea yarn)
  • 1 meter Light Green thread yarn (I have used Circulo Clea yarn)
  • 1.25mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Gauge: N/A

Size: My leaf is 2cm in diameter.

Notes: The leaf is created in the round of a magic circle. Each leaf is then individually embroidered with fern stitch. A collection of leaves are made then chained together to create a stem to your desired length.

Crochet Stitches

To make my crochet Falling Leaves, you will be using a few crochet stitches including: Double Crochet (dc), Treble Crochet (tr), slip stitch (sl st).

Embroidery

Once you have made your leaf, embroidery will now be added to create the vain effect along the leaf using Fern embroidery stitch. Thread 1 meter of light green yarn and add 3 fern stitches evenly placed along the leaf. A full video tutorial is made below for you.

Assembly

Make a collection of leaves. Cut a piece of light green thread 1 meter in length (longer if you would like your stem to hold more than 8 falling hearts), fold this in half to create a loop at one end. Insert your crochet hook into the top of a leaf and catch the loop light green yarn, chain between 6 -10 depending on your chosen distance between the leaves.

Insert your crochet hook into the base of the next leaf, add a sc to secure the leaf, chain 6-10. Repeat this step until you have reached your desired stem length. I created a collection of 5 and 8 leaf stems for my Crochet Succulent.

  1. Thank you for this lovely cascading succulent. I also have trouble growing this one indoors but look forward to making several of these for hanging above my sofa and in places that are too dark for growing plants but still need some green things. I have made several of your other plants and look forward to growing my collection!

    1. Thank you Elaine, I am so pleased you love this new pattern. A few crochet plants really help brighten up a dark corner in the home! Thank you for the kind words. Happy crocheting.
