With Easter just around the corner, I have created a Crochet Bunny Pattern Free step by step tutorial for you. You can make my little cute crochet bunny in any yarn of your choice with the matching crochet hook. I have made a few of these crochet bunnies in various weight yarns and with the finest yarn these bunnies make a perfect little brooch.
My Easy Crochet Bunny pattern is written below with a simple step by step written photo tutorial or if you prefer a video tutorial, I have also made a Youtube video.
Materials
- 50 meters bunny coloured yarn
- 2 meters contrasting bunny coloured yarn for tail
- 2 meters of pink yarn
- Matching crochet hook to your yarn
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Stuffing
Gauge: N/A. Use the smallest crochet hook you can with your chosen yarn to create tight stitches, this will help your bunny keep its shape.
Size: With my lace yarn & 1.75mm crochet hook my Crochet Bunny is 5cm tall, with fingering weight yarn & 2.5mm crochet hook my Crochet Bunny is 8cm tall.
Notes: The rabbit is made in parts. The body, head and tail are made in a spiral. The ears are made in contrasting yarn with the eyes & nose is embroidered. If you wish add a brooch pin at the back.
Crochet Bunny Pattern Free Step by Step Tutorial
Body
Row 1(Bunny fur coloured yarn of your choice): Make a magic circle, ch 1, 6sc into the centre of the magic circle, pull the magic circle shut, continue in the spiral. Total: 6sc.
Row 2: 6sc inc. Total 12sc.
Row 3: *sc, sc inc.* repeat * 5 more times. Total 18sc.
Row 4: *sc, sc inc., sc* repeat * 5 more times. Total 24sc.
Rows 5-8: 24sc. Total 24sc.
Row 9: *5sc, sc dec., 5sc* repeat * once more times.Total 22sc.
Row 10: *9sc, sc dec.* repeat * once more times.Total 20sc.
Row 11: *4sc, sc dec., 4sc* repeat * once more times.Total 18sc.
Row 12: *7sc, sc dec.* repeat * once more times.Total 16sc.
Row 13: *3sc, sc dec., 3sc* repeat * once more times.Total 14sc. STOP HERE AND ADD THE STUFFING, DO NOT FILL TO TIGHTLY AS THE BODY IS TO BECOME AN OVAL FLAT SHAPE.
Row 14: *5sc, sc dec.* repeat * once more times.Total 12sc.
Row 15: 6sc dec.Total 6sc. Fasten off leaving a long tail, attached a tapestry needle and close the final 6sc then weave in your ends.
Head
Row 1(Bunny fur coloured yarn of your choice): Make a magic circle, ch 1, 6sc into the centre of the magic circle, pull the magic circle shut, continue in the spiral. Total: 6sc.
Row 2: 6sc inc. Total 12sc.
Row 3: *sc inc., 3sc* repeat * 2 more times. Total 15sc.
Rows 4-5: 15sc. Total 15sc.
Row 6: *sc dec., 3sc* repeat * 2 more times.Total 12sc.
Row 7: *sc, sc dec., sc* repeat * 2 more times.Total 9sc. STOP HERE AND ADD THE STUFFING.
Row 8: *sc dec., sc* repeat* 2 more times. Total 6sc. Fasten off leaving a long tail 50cm, attached a tapestry needle and close the final 6sc then weave in your needle down to row 3 and attach the head to body. Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Tail
Row 1(Tail coloured yarn of your choice): Make a magic circle, ch 1, 6sc into the centre of the magic circle, pull the magic circle shut, continue in the spiral. Total: 6sc.
Row 2: 6sc. Total 6sc. Fasten off leaving a long tail 50cm, attached a tapestry needle to the magic circle tail and fasten off. Now attach the tail to the bottom of the body using the other tail. Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Ears (Make 2)
Row 1(Pink coloured yarn): Make a magic circle, ch 8, sc in the second from the hook, 4sc, sl st , sl st. Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Row 2 (Rabbit coloured yarn): Attach the yarn into the final slst of the previous row, sl st into this first stitch, 7sc, (sc, picot, sc) into the chain stitch at the top, now turn to work down the opposite side of the ear, 7sc, sl st, sl st into the first stitch. Fasten off and attach the ears to the head. Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Once all the pieces attached, sew on some eyes and embroider a nose in contrasting yarn at the tip of the head.
