Today I am sharing with your my Crochet Cotton Flower pattern. Cotton is a staple for many of us in our daily lives, as it is strong, natural, and durable. Make your own crochet cotton flowers to add some natural charm to your home, or turn your flower into a brooch or crochet hair clip.
Make your own Crochet Cotton blooms in any natural yarns of your choice. Create the fluffy cotton ball bloom easily with yarn and a wire brush.

Materials
- 5 meters of natural yarn (white, cream, brown) (I have used fingering weight yarn)
- 15 meters of brown yarn
- Matching sized crochet hook for your yarn ( I have used a 2.5mm)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Stuffing
- Wire brush (such as a suede shoe brush)
- Florist wire
- Glue (Optional)
Gauge: N/A
Size: With DK cotton yarn and a 2.5 mm crochet hook my Cotton bloom is 6cm diameter, 4cm in height.
Notes: The flower and sepal is made in a continuous spiral. The sepals are worked using both the front and back loops.
Stitches
Slip Stitch (sl st): Insert hook into the stitch, pick up yarn, pull through the loop.
Single Crochet (sc): Insert hook into the stitch, pick up yarn, yarn over, pick up yarn, pull through the 2 loops.
Half Double Crochet (hdc): Yarn over, insert hook into the stitch, pick up yarn, yarn over, pull through the all 3 loops.
Double Crochet (dr): Yarn over, insert hook into the stitch, pick up yarn, yarn over, pull through the first 2 loops, yarn over, pick up yarn, pull through the last 2 loops.
Crochet Cotton Pattern
Row 1: Make a magic circle. Chain 1, 6sc into the magic circle. Pull the tail to close the magic circle. Total: 6sc.
Row 2: 6sc inc. Total: 12sc.
Row 3:*sc, sc inc* repeat * to * 5 more times. Total: 18sc.
Row 4:*sc, sc inc, sc* repeat * to * 5 more times. Total: 24sc.
Row 5:*sc inc. 3sc* repeat * to * 5 more times. Total: 30sc.
Rows 6-8: 30sc. Total: 30sc.
Row 7: *sc dec, 3sc* repeat * to * 5 more times. Total: 24sc.
Row 8: *sc, sc dec, sc* repeat * to * 5 more times. Total: 18sc.
Row 9: *sc dec, sc* repeat * to * 5 more times. Fill the center of the bud with stuffing before the final row. Total: 12sc.
Row 10: 6sc dec. fasten off leaving a 20cm tail. Thread onto a tapestry needle and weave in and out of the final 6 stitches to close the bud. Fasten off and weave in your ends.
To create the fluffy texture on the bud, use a metal brush (such as a suede shoe brush) and brush in all directions on the bud. After a few minutes your bud will have a fluffy halo similar to natural cotton.
Sepals
Row 1: Make a magic circle. Chain 1, 5sc into the magic circle. Pull the tail to close the magic circle. Total: 5sc.
Row 2: 5sc inc. Total: 10sc.
Row 3:*sc, sc inc* repeat * to * 4 more times, sl st into the FRONT LOOP of the first st. Total: 15sc.
Row 4:*(ch4, sc in the 2nd from the hook, hdc, dc), skip 2 stitches, sl st into the FRONT LOOP* repeat * to * 3 more times,
(ch4, sc in the 2nd from the hook, hdc, dc), skip 2 stitches, sl st into the BACK of the first stitch from Row 3. Total: 5 small sepals.
Row 5:Sl st into the next stitch, *(ch6, sl st in to the 2nd from the hook, sc, 2hdc, dc), skip 2 stitches, sl st into the BACK LOOP* repeat * to * 4 more times.
Total: 5 long sepals. Fasten off leaving a long tail of 50cm.
How to Assemble Cotton Flower
Cut a piece of florist wire 50cm, thread it through the bottom of the flower bloom (as shown below), once half way fold the wire in half creating a double stem. Next thread the stem through the center of the magic circle of the sepal.
Thread the long tail of the sepal onto a tapestry needle. Weave the needle through a long sepal from the back loops (as shown in the photo),
Thread the needle into the center of the flower bloom to the bottom (creating a divide in the bloom), continue pushing the needle through the magic circle of the sepal. Once again weave the needle through the next long sepal and thread into the center of the bloom and back down to the center of the sepal. Repeat this process until all 5 long sepals have been sewn creating 5 segments within the cotton bloom. Once finished used the remaining yarn to wrap around the stem to your desired length. Fasten off and weave in your ends, you can add an optional dab of glue at the end to secure your yarn.
