My free Crochet Orange blossom flower pattern is written below with a simple step by step written photo tutorial or if you prefer a video tutorial, I have also made a Youtube video.
Materials
- 12 meters white Thread yarn ( I have used Circulo Clea yarn)
- 1.25mm crochet hook
- 24 meters of green thread yarn ( I have used Circulo Clea yarn double)
- 2.5mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Pearl Bead for the center of the flower (optional)
- Florist wire
Gauge: N/A
Size: My flowers are 3cm in diameter, Leaf is 6cm in length
Notes: The flower is created worked in round of a magic circle, the central stamen with worked first using back loops, next the petals are worked using the front loops. The crochet leaves are made with the same thread yarn doubled and crocheted over florist wire to create a flexible flower bouquet.
Crochet Stitches
To make my crochet orange blossom flowers, you will be using a few crochet stitches including: Double Crochet (dc), slip stitch (sl st), front loop.
How to make a Crochet Orange Blossom Flower
Row 1: Green yarn | 1.25mm crochet hook. Make a magic circle, add 6sc into the center of the circle. Close the magic circle.
Row 2: 6sc.
Row 3: 6sc. Fasten off leaving a long tail of 1 meter to wrap around the stem.
Row 4: White yarn Attach the white yarn to the front loop of any stitch, chain 1 (count as a heightening stitch), 6sc.
Rows 5 – 6: 6sc.
Row 7: *chain 2, sl st into the second from the hook, sl st* repeat * to * 5 more times. Fasten off & weave in your ends.
Row 8: White yarn Attach the white yarn to the front loop of any stitch from Row 3, chain 1 (count as a heightening stitch), sc inc., sc, 2sc inc., sc, sc inc. sl st into the first stitch. Total: 10sc
Row 9: *chain 3 (count as a dc), dc in the same stitch, dc inc. TURN, chain 2 (count as the beginning of a dc dec., continue dc dec. in the next stitch, dc dec., chain 1 count as heightening stitch TURN (sc, picot – chain 2, sl st into the second from the hook), sc.
work 4 slst down the side of the petal (as shown in the photo below), sl st into the next st, * repeat * to* 4 more times. Fasten off & weave in your ends.
How to Crochet a Leaf
Row 1: Green yarn | 2.5 mm crochet hook & 15cm florist wire Chain 14, sc in the second from the hook ensureing you are crocheting over the wire, CONTINUE CROCHETING OVER THE WIRE AS YOU MAKE EACH STITCH – IF YOU ARE UNSURE THERE IS A FULL TUTORIAL ON THE YOUTUBE VIDEO, 2hdc, 3dc, tr, 3dc, 2hdc, (sc, picot – chain 2, sl st in the second from the hook, sc) in the final chain, TURN to work down the other side of the foundation chain, 2hdc, 3dc, tr. 3dc. 2hdc, sc. Sl st into the first st. Fasten off leaving a short tail.
Assembly
Make a collection of flowers and leaves, insert a piece of florist wire 40cm long into the back of the flower as shown in the photot below, using the long green tail carefully wrap the yarn around the wire. When you get to your desired length add a leaf and continue wrapping the green yarn around the flower stem and the leaf stem. Continue in this manner until you reach 8cm from the end of the wire. Fold the wire at the end to create a curved end and pinch together, now continue wrapping the yarn over the wire ends until all the stem is covered in green yarn. Fasten off or glue the yarn at the end of stem to secure. Repeat this process for each stem.
If you wish you can add a pearl bead to the center of the flowers as I have done in my orginal bouque shown in the photo below.
