The quintessential symbol of Christmas, today we will make a Crochet Holly Leaf. These little motifs make perfect tree decorations, finishing touches to gifts or place them on the front of handmade Christmas cards.
This is the second free crochet Christmas patterns I have & will be sharing with you as many of us stay at home through the month of November.
My free Crochet Holly Leaf pattern is written below with a simple step by step written photo tutorial or if you prefer a video tutorial, I have also made a Youtube video.
Materials
- 10 meters of green yarn of your choice
- 3 meters of red yarn
- Matching crochet hook to your yarn
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge: N/A. Use the smallest crochet hook you can with your chosen yarn to create tight stitches, this will help your crochet leaf keep its form & not flop.
Size: Using fingering weight & a 2mm crochet hook my leaf is 5cm tip to base, 2.5cm wide.
Notes: The leaf is made working both sides of the foundation chain. The berries are made using a magic circle. Each piece is made individually then joined together.

So glad I found your pattern for a holly leaf! The others I have tried were so complicated that I was ready to give up. So thank you. The leaves are easy to make and so pretty.
Just one point – in the written instructions, it says in Row 1 :- sc in 2nd chain, SC, hdc, 8dc… Yet in the video and photo, it does not have the second SC.(my capitals)
I am so happy I could help. Thank you for the note I will add it in the text of the video! Have a wonderful day. Love, Roseanna.
