Christmas is nearly upon us, therefore today I am going to show you how to Crochet Mistletoe. I love to decorated my home full of Christmas decorations to celebrate the festive season, each year I try to add one or two more handmade pieces to our collection. Mistletoe is not a Brazilian tradition here so as we are offically having the first real Christmas in the cottage I wanted to add a bit more of England to our home so Mistletoe was a must and since I can not any natural bouquet I made one instead.
You can make your Mistletoe in any yarn of your choice. I have used some DK yarn with a small 2mm crochet hook to keep the form and shape of the leaves, although my stems are not stiff I could add florist wire but decided not to as I will be hanging from above and will therefore hang straight.
This month I was kindly gifted some beautiful Mohair yarn from Novelaria in Sao Paulo. I have doubled the yarn to create my Mistletoe berries and the yarn has created little fluffy white berries in which the stitches merge togethere creating a nice contract against the final embroidery stitches on the base of the berry.
The pattern includes two stem sizes, medium and large to create a bouquet of Mistletoe with depth and textural variety. The Mistletoe Berries are made individually then finished off with a little embroidered stitch to create a realistic look.
